Operational Planning and Risk Assessment for full opening - September 2020

Home School Agreement - September 2020

Organisation of the School Day - September 2020

Friday 17th July 2020

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers

I do hope you are all well and please find above the documentation to be read in readiness for our September opening to the whole school.  We are so looking forward to seeing you and all the children on Monday 7th September (Years 4 - 6) and Year 3 on Friday 4th September.

Please can you ensure that you have read the documents that are on the links at the top of this page before your child returns to school in September:

  • Operational Planning and Risk Assessment for full opening
  • Home School Agreement
  • Organisation of the School Day

The Operational Planning and Risk Assessment for full opening is a very lengthy document and it should be read in full.  However, I know a lot of parents have been asking about the arrangements for September and what we have planned.  These can be found on:

  • page 6  - 1.e) Minimise contact between individuals and maintain social distancing wherever possible
  • page 15 - 3) Additional Information

Once you have read the documents, if you have any queries, please call 01322 522151.  We ask that you phone rather than email so we can answer any subsequent questions you may have.

Thank you so much for all your understanding over these difficult few months.  I really appreciate the difficulties that everyone has faced and we have enjoyed seeing the activities that you have completed with your children over the past months.

Take care

Mrs Watson

Monday 22nd June 2020

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers

Firstly we do hope your children are enjoying being back in school.  Can you please ensure you have re-read this guidance before returning to school tomorrow.

Guidance Statement during Covid-19 Return Opening to run with our Positive Attitudes Policy until further notice

We are open from 1st June every day (Monday – Friday), start and end times will be determined by the teaching group (bubble) that your child is in.

We will open for some classes at 8.30am and not before.

Children should arrive at school in a clean, washed school uniform each day with their packed lunch and two full water bottles.  They do not require any other equipment.

We will provide the children with all the learning resources they will need when they are in school.

Please remember, we are a NUT and FISH FREE school.  This includes all types of fish including tuna, fish paste, fresh fish, shellfish etc.  Please ensure you check any product ingredients for nuts before they are brought into school.  There are many products which contain traces of nuts which we may not be aware.

Sun cream should have been applied at home and children should also have a sun hat with them in school.

On their timetabled PE day, children should arrive in school in their PE kit so they do not have to get changed during the course of the day.

On their timetabled outdoor learning day, children should arrive in school in their own clothes so they do not have to get changed during the course of the day.

NO MOBILE PHONES are to be brought to school.  We do not have anywhere to store them and will not be able to clean them throughout the course of or at the end of the school day.

Parents are asked to be mindful to our neighours and ensure that you are adhering to our normal car parking requests and maintain social distancing at all times.

Parents must arrive at their allocated drop off and pick up times for their child’s class.  Please do not be early or late.

Every child MUST be dropped off and picked up by ONE parent/carer.

No child will be allowed to come into or leave school without a parent/carer dropping or picking them up.

Unless unavoidable, please do not bring siblings when dropping off or picking up your child.

A member of SLT will greet you at the electric green gate (Birchwood Drive and Wood Close) at the beginning and the end of school day.

Parents and children should comply with the two metre rule if you have to queue.

Markers are in place on the ground on the approach to ensure that the 2 metre rule is followed.

Parents and children should respect the social distancing measures.

Parents should leave the school premises promptly after picking up and dropping off.

If a parent needs to speak to a member of staff, please use the school email or telephone the office.

At this time, no parent/carer will be permitted in the building.

Children will enter their classes through the outside fire doors or another allocated entrance/exit depending on location of the classroom.

Every child will be allocated a desk in their classroom.  This is their desk and will not be used by any other child.

Children should remain at their desk when they are in the classroom.

On this desk, the children should place their packed lunch and two water bottles.  These should remain on their desk for the day.

If the children do need to wear a coat, this will be placed on the back of their chair.  No cloakroom or lockers will be used.

At the beginning of the day, children will be escorted to the toilet to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds using hot water and thoroughly drying them with a paper towel.

All ‘bubbles’ (classes) have been allocated six toilet times during a school day.  At all times, we must try to adhere to these.

The toilets operate using a one in one out policy.

If a child needs to go to the toilet when it is not their time on the rota, a member of staff will take them and wait outside.

When moving around the school, the children should ensure that they are standing on a smiley face sticker.  This does mean that they will be adhering to social distancing.

All classes are on a staggered break and lunch time.

Children must wash their hands before they go out to play and when they return from play at break time and lunch time.

Children will only be allowed to play in their designated zone.

Children will be reminded to social distance when every possible.

No equipment will be allowed out at playtimes.

Message to parents of children attending school and returning to school

Monday 15th June 2020

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers

I do hope you have had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

To update you from the government announcement last week, primary schools have been asked if at all possible could we invite more children into school if we have the capacity.  As advised last week, we are not going to be in a position to do this as we continue to operate under the 'bubble' model.  We are opening a new bubble for Year 6 on Monday 22nd June which has already been filled.  We are trying to increase this offer but unfortunately, due to staffing we are unable to extend this offer at present to accommodate any more children in Year 6.  We are trying and will update parents if we are able to create another bubble.  Additionally,  this may change depending on further government announcements regarding social distancing.  All we want is all of our children back but we can only work with the staff and room capacity that we have.

We have a similar problem with the key worker children as we have reached capacity‚Äč in at least one year group and we will be unable to take any more children of key workers, unless you advised us that you would be requiring a place on the questionnaire that was sent out via the website on Thursday 14th May.  It is therefore absolutely essential that your child is only in school if they cannot be looked after safely at home.  This includes parents who are working from home - your children should be at home with you on these days.  We know most of our families are following these guidelines but we ask that everyone adheres to these so we can give the child-care that is needed for those parents who are working in key worker positions and have no one at home to look after them safely.

Please do contact us if you require any further information on 01322 522151.  We are in the office every day from 8.00am - 4.00pm.

Take care

Mrs Watson
